About
Masayoshi Takayama opened Masa in 2004 after running Ginza Sushiko in Los Angeles, where he first established his reputation for flown-in Japanese fish and a no-menu, no-soy-sauce counter style. The room seats 26 and operates as a single prolonged omakase; the $750-plus ticket includes sushi, small cooked dishes, and truffles in season. Masa held three Michelin stars from the guide's New York debut until 2021 and currently holds two.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Chef Masayoshi Takayama — one of the most celebrated sushi masters in the world
  • Two Michelin stars; formerly three stars for over a decade
  • No menu, no soy sauce — pure edomae at the counter
  • 26-seat counter inside Deutsche Bank Center

Bar Masa next door offers a more accessible a la carte menu.
