About
Sakagura was opened in 1996 by Bon Yagi, the Japanese-born founder of TIC Restaurant Group who built a 16-restaurant empire starting with Sake Bar Decibel in 1993. Located in the basement of a Midtown office building, Sakagura holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and stocks over 260 sakes alongside a broad Japanese menu. Yagi has been called 'the emperor of New York's Japanese East Village' for his role in introducing sake culture to American diners.
