About
Perched on the Athens Riviera in Vouliagmeni, Matsuhisa Athens is the flagship Japanese dining destination of Southeast Europe, operated under the creative direction of Japanese chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa (born 1949, Saitama, Japan). Part of a global empire spanning 40-plus locations, this restaurant brings the celebrated Nikkei — Japanese-Peruvian — fusion philosophy that Matsuhisa pioneered in Los Angeles to the heart of the Greek Aegean. The menu centres on iconic preparations: black cod marinated in sweet miso, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, king crab tempura, and omakase tasting selections. The setting, within the grounds of the iconic Astir Palace, offers one of the most dramatic waterside dining terraces in Greece. Executive chef Nikos Skamnakis and head sushi chef Tony Vratsanos lead the kitchen, both trained within the exacting Nobu/Matsuhisa system.
