Hidden behind an unmarked door in a South End brownstone basement, 311 Omakase made history as Greater Boston's first Michelin-starred restaurant in the inaugural 2025 edition of the guide. Chef-owner Wei Fa Chen, who trained at Masa in Manhattan under three-Michelin-star chef Masa Takayama, runs an intimate 10-seat counter featuring 18 meticulously composed courses. Seasonal ingredients — including fish, crab, scallops, and wasabi — are imported directly from Japan, while Kyoto and Asheville ceramics plate each dish. Co-owner Carrie Ko curates the sake pairings, often traveling to Japan to source them personally.
