About
Ikeda opened in 1973 on Brook Street in Mayfair, making it one of the longest-established Japanese restaurants in London. Family-run since its founding by the Ikeda family, the restaurant has operated continuously through more than five decades of London's dining evolution without diluting its traditional Japanese values. Owner Kenichi Ikeda oversees a menu that spans sushi, sashimi, tempura, noodles and grilled fish — including the celebrated gindara (black cod). The intimate, counter-forward dining room, with photographs of celebrity guests lining the walls, maintains a loyal clientele of Japanese expatriates and Mayfair regulars who regard it as the most authentically Japanese restaurant in the city. Service is formal and attentive in the traditional Japanese style.
