About
Opened in late 2020 by third-generation sushi master Endo Kazutoshi — the chef behind the one-Michelin-starred Endo at the Rotunda — Sumi is the more accessible, a la carte sister restaurant on Westbourne Grove. Named after his mother, it expanded into the next-door premises in 2022 to meet demand. Head chef Yasuda Akinori leads the kitchen, delivering an ingredient-focused menu of nigiri, sashimi and temaki using the finest seasonal fish, alongside robata-grilled dishes. The restaurant holds a Michelin Guide 'Good Cooking' listing and is beloved for its lively atmosphere and top-tier produce without the formality of omakase.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Michelin Guide-listed neighbourhood sushi from the Endo Kazutoshi stable
  • Exceptional robata grilling alongside pristine nigiri and temaki
  • Energetic, casual setting on Westbourne Grove with outdoor terrace
  • Named after the chef's mother — personal story, authentic soul
