About
Shiro Kashiba was born in Kyoto in 1941 and spent over six years apprenticing under sushi legend Jiro Ono of Sukiyabashi Jiro before introducing Edomae sushi to Seattle in 1966. After decades as a city-defining culinary figure, he opened Sushi Kashiba around 2015 in the historic Inn at the Market complex adjacent to Pike Place Market. The restaurant is a three-time James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Chef and has earned multiple OpenTable Icons awards. Kashiba personally selects fish each morning, and the omakase counter experience — $180 per person — ranks among the finest sushi encounters in the Pacific Northwest.
