About
Originally opened as Edomae Kiyomi and now operating as Kiyomi Omakase, this Church-Wellesley restaurant made history as Canada's first restaurant to offer a tempura omakase — a multi-course format dedicated entirely to the high art of Japanese deep-frying in a Japanese fine-dining setting. The restaurant operates a dual counter: one dedicated to tempura omakase and the other to Edomae-style sushi, serving premium ingredients including A5 Wagyu, Kuruma Ebi (tiger prawns), and Hokkaido sea urchin. The 16-course tempura omakase starts at approximately $150, while the sushi counter reflects classic Japanese seasonality. Reservations are available through OpenTable.
