Sushi Matsuno was opened approximately seven years ago by Chef Matsuno, a Japanese chef trained in Japan, at its current address on Xinle Road in Xuhui, near the IAPM. With just eight seats per session, it is among Shanghai's most intimate omakase restaurants: Chef Matsuno stands personally at the counter, selects the finest available ingredients each day, and presents a classically Japanese sushi progression in a quiet, focused atmosphere. Over the years the restaurant has cultivated a deeply loyal following within Shanghai's local and international gourmet community.
