Tomi Jazz at 239 East 53rd Street (Lower Level) originated in the 1990s as a private membership club serving Japanese patrons. Ken Mukohata bought the venue in 2010 and opened it to the public, preserving the nightly live jazz program alongside a Japanese sake and small-plates menu.
