About
Toshio Kobatake from Osaka — honoured by the Japanese government in 2019 as one of just three outstanding Japanese chefs in Germany — opened JAPATAPA TOSHIBAR in October 2022 on Marschallstraße near Münchner Freiheit. He had previously run the restaurant Toshi in Munich city centre for over two decades. In the minimalist little space, guests sit either at the counter or small bistro tables; Kobatake's cooking is thoroughly and uncompromisingly Japanese: sushi sourced from the finest ingredients, onsen egg with caviar and dashi broth, or Black Cod with saikyo miso. The Michelin Guide lists JAPATAPA TOSHIBAR as Selected. His wife Tamiko provides warm, attentive service.
