About
When Hideki Matsuhisa opened Majide in El Raval in 2016, he extended the reach of Grupo Shunka beyond the Gothic Quarter into Barcelona's most creatively vibrant neighbourhood. The name itself — majide means 'seriously?' in Japanese slang, expressing the disbelief of something excellent — captures the restaurant's character: consistently good food at prices that feel slightly too reasonable for the level of Japanese craft on offer. The menu covers sushi, sashimi, yakitori and cooked dishes, reflecting the breadth of a chef whose Michelin star was earned through mastery of the full Japanese culinary register. Michelin-recognised, the restaurant is recommended across multiple editions of the Spain guide.
