About
Hiroki Yoshiyuki trained at Barcelona's legendary Tempura-ya before opening Ramen-ya Hiro in September 2012 on Carrer de Girona, bringing the flavours of his native Hiroshima to the Eixample. He rolls and cuts his noodles by hand every day, and the broths — shoyu, miso, and tonkotsu — are simmered for hours from scratch. The tiny dining room seats barely thirty guests, and queues form well before the 7:30 pm opening. It remains one of the very few Japanese-owned, no-compromise ramen bars in Spain.
Neighborhood & visiting
Ramen-ya Hiro sits in Eixample Dreta, one of Barcelona's neighborhoods where authentic Japanese kitchens have taken root. Reservations are available online — for a focused ramen counter this is strongly recommended. Check the posted hours before you go — traditional ramen restaurants often close between service periods.
