About
Named after the historic bridge district in Tokyo, Nihonbashi is one of Vienna's established Japanese-owned restaurants, operated by Japanese owners and staff on the city's prime Kärntner Straße shopping boulevard. Chef Taiyo-san from Hokkaido oversees a menu encompassing fresh sushi, sashimi and izakaya-style small plates. The restaurant is noted as the training ground where sushi master Hiroki Takahashi (now at SHIKI Omakase) spent nearly a decade as sous chef before his move to Vienna's most exclusive Japanese counter. Multiple reviewers confirm Japanese ownership and the restaurant remains active as of late 2025.
