About
One of Vienna's longest-running Japanese restaurants, Unkai opened at the Grand Hotel Wien in 1994 and has been a training ground for some of Austria's most celebrated Japanese chefs — both SHIKI's sushi master Hiroki Takahashi and Sakai's chef-owner Hiroshi Sakai honed their skills here. The restaurant spans multiple dining areas: a ground-floor sushi bar, two teppanyaki grills where chefs cook tableside, private dining rooms and traditional tatami rooms where guests are served by kimono-dressed staff. Gault&Millau has consistently awarded Unkai its prestigious 2-toque distinction.
