About
SHIKI opened in February 2015 as Joji Hattori's vision of Japanese culinary artistry transplanted to Vienna. Owner Hattori was born in Tokyo in 1969, came to Vienna at age eight, and returned in 2011 with a mission to create a world-class Japanese dining destination. In 2018, SHIKI became the first Japanese restaurant in Austria to earn a Michelin star — a distinction held by Chef de Cuisine Alois Traint for nearly a decade. The restaurant also holds Gault&Millau's prestigious 18/20 rating. The 2025 arrival of sushi master Hiroki Takahashi (ex-Palace Hotel Tokyo, ex-Unkai Vienna) as part of the newly opened SHIKI Omakase brings the group's Japanese credentials to a new peak.
