About
Ogata Paris is the first European outpost of Tokyo-based designer, architect, and restaurateur Shinichiro Ogata, installed in an 18th-century private mansion in the Marais. The project encompasses a full cultural ecosystem: a restaurant with open kitchen serving a seasonal kaiseki-spirit tasting menu, a tea salon, an art gallery, and a boutique of Japanese craft objects and tableware. The Michelin Guide describes Ogata as a 'temple dedicated to Japanese art de vivre,' with food characterised by immaculate sashimi, seasonal Japanese home cooking, and regional specialties reinterpreted through Ogata's refined aesthetic. Dinner menus run to €145, with a more accessible lunch Experience Menu from €50. The counter seats are most sought-after. The boutique and spaces are open to visitors without reservations.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Michelin-listed as a standout destination — the 'best seats are at the counter' for an immersive open-kitchen kaiseki experience.
- One of the most beautiful interiors in Paris: an 18th-century hôtel particulier transformed through Japanese design sensibility.
- The tea salon, gallery, and boutique make Ogata Paris a complete cultural experience beyond the meal itself.
- The lunch Experience Menu from €50 opens this exceptional address to a broader audience.
Reservations via the official website or OpenTable. The boutique does not require a reservation. Smart casual required for the restaurant. Mondays and Tuesdays the restaurant is closed (boutique still open).
