Ramen Auru is the Japanese-led ramen bar operated by Hatena Group on the first floor of a Crows Nest address shared with sister yakitori venue Yakitori Yurippi. About
The Hatena Group — Sydney's most distinctive Japanese restaurant collective — opened Ramen Auru as a deliberate homage to Japan's machi-chuka (neighbourhood Chinese-Japanese eatery) culture, a style of accessible, hearty ramen distinct from the premium Hakata or craft-ramen traditions. Situated above Yakitori Yurippi on Falcon Street, the first-floor space has tatami-floored areas and an intimate, Tokyo back-street atmosphere. Walk-in only with no reservations, it operates late — until midnight Monday through Saturday — making it unique among Sydney ramen establishments and a natural after-dinner destination. The Friday and Saturday lunch session from noon to 2:30pm is a recent addition. Auru's Japanese chef-led kitchen produces a concise but carefully composed ramen menu that prioritises broth clarity and umami depth, with specials rotating regularly.
Neighborhood & visiting

Ramen Auru sits in Crows Nest, one of Sydney's neighborhoods where authentic Japanese kitchens have taken root. Check the posted hours before you go — traditional ramen restaurants often close between service periods.

Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Operated by the Hatena Group — the same collective behind Yakitori Yurippi and other acclaimed Crows Nest Japanese venues — with a verified Japanese chef-led kitchen.
  • Sydney's latest-serving ramen shop: open until midnight most nights, it fills a gap for post-dinner and late-evening ramen cravings.
  • Inspired by Tokyo's machi-chuka culture, offering a style of neighbourhood Japanese noodle dining underrepresented in Sydney's ramen landscape.
  • Tatami-floored first-floor space and walk-in-only policy creates an atmospheric, unhurried dining experience impossible to book away.

Walk-ins only; no reservations or phone bookings. No phone number publicly listed. Address: L1/6-8 Falcon St, Crows Nest. Part of Hatena Group (hatena.com.au).
