Otafuku Medetai at 220 East 9th Street has served takoyaki and okonomiyaki to the East Village since 2000, making it one of the city's longest-running Japanese street-food counters. The shop is walk-up and counter-only, focused almost entirely on the Osaka specialty of octopus balls cooked in a special cast-iron mold.
