About
Hiyakawa opened in autumn 2020 in the Wynwood Arts District as the most ambitious project yet from restaurateur Alvaro Perez Miranda, who spent 16 years living in Japan. Culinary Director Masayuki Komatsu, born in Osaka, and Executive Chef Hiro Asano from Chiba lead the kitchen, upholding traditional Japanese techniques with seasonal ingredients, some sourced directly from Japan. The Michelin Guide Florida lists Hiyakawa as a Recommended restaurant, honoring the authentically Japanese sensibility at the heart of the concept.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Michelin Recommended — Wynwood's leading Japanese restaurant
  • Chef Masayuki Komatsu — Osaka-born culinary director
  • Seasonal omakase experiences alongside an à la carte menu
  • Stunning interior — a concentric wooden vault as architectural art installation
