About
Edomae is named after the historic Edo-era style of sushi from Tokyo Bay, and it is the only restaurant in Zürich offering a true omakase counter in this tradition. The intimate 8-seat bar at Talstrasse 62 near Paradeplatz puts guests face-to-face with the chef, who presents each course — from aged nigiri to seasonal kaiseki bites — based on the best available ingredients. Beyond the evening omakase, the restaurant also offers a lunchtime chirashi bowl and a casual afternoon Japanese tapas programme. Reviewers who have experienced Japanese cuisine in Tokyo regularly single out Edomae as Zürich's most authentic sushi expression.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Zürich's only dedicated Edomae-style omakase counter, with just 8 seats for an intimate experience
- Multi-session programming — lunch bowls, afternoon Japanese tapas, and full evening omakase
- Traditional Edo-era sushi craft: aged fish, hand-pressed nigiri and seasonal kaiseki courses
- Walking distance from Paradeplatz and Zürich's financial district — ideal for a special occasion dinner
Founded circa 2019 based on earliest reviews. Omakase priced at CHF 175 per person.
