About
Founded in 1993 by Elize Nakatani — a native of Osaka, the spiritual home of okonomiyaki — Abeno at 47 Museum Street in Bloomsbury was Europe's first restaurant dedicated to the Japanese savoury pancake tradition. Each table is fitted with an iron teppan grill on which okonomiyaki are prepared, allowing diners to customise fillings from seafood to mochi to the traditional pork. Now in its fourth decade, Abeno continues to combine classic Osaka recipes with vegan-friendly alternatives and has earned a loyal following among students, academics and Japanese expats. No Michelin recognition.
