About
Roka Dubai, which opened circa 2020 as the first international outpost of Rainer Becker's celebrated robatayaki concept, sits on Level 1 of The Opus — the gravity-defying Zaha Hadid structure in Business Bay. The concept shares the same Zuma Group DNA: a Japanese-benchmarked kitchen that rigorously executes robatayaki grilling alongside beautifully crafted sushi, sashimi, and sharing plates. Signature items include the yellowtail with truffle oil, nasu aubergine salad, black cod, and lamb cutlets, while the tasting menu offers a curated progression of the kitchen's best. The outdoor terrace provides a spectacular backdrop of the Burj Khalifa and Business Bay skyline, making it one of Dubai's most visually dramatic dining venues. London's original Roka opened in 2004 on Charlotte Street; Dubai is the first city in the Middle East to host the brand.
Neighborhood & visiting

Roka Dubai sits in Business Bay, one of Dubai's neighborhoods where authentic Japanese kitchens have taken root. Reservations are available online — for a focused izakaya counter this is strongly recommended. Check the posted hours before you go — traditional izakaya restaurants often close between service periods.

Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • First international location of the critically acclaimed Roka robatayaki concept, housed in Zaha Hadid's landmark Opus building in Business Bay.
  • Michelin Guide Dubai selected and sister restaurant to Zuma — applying the same Japanese-benchmarked kitchen standards and premium sourcing across its robatayaki menu.
  • The outdoor terrace delivers one of Dubai's most breathtaking dining views, with direct sight lines to the Burj Khalifa and the illuminated Business Bay skyline.

BORDERLINE — same Zuma Group founders (Rainer Becker, non-Japanese), but kitchen standards are Japanese-benchmarked. Dubai is first international Roka location. Roka London opened 2004; Dubai circa 2020. Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice. No individual Japanese chef confirmed by name for Dubai location.
