Fujiya was conceived by Takahiro Mogi, a Japanese restaurateur from Hachioji in Greater Tokyo, who brings the neighbourhood izakaya spirit of Japan to Dubai. Chef Aiko Hayakawa, who transitioned from professional sumo wrestling to Japanese cuisine, leads a kitchen that imports premium ingredients directly from Japan, including A4 and A5 wagyu beef, fresh seafood, and specialty condiments. The menu spans classic izakaya staples — chicken karaage, yakitori skewers, ramen, and sushi rolls — alongside an all-you-can-eat wagyu BBQ programme that has earned cult status with Dubai's Japanese expat community. The casual, warmly lit interior with Japanese decorative elements and handwritten menus recreates the feel of a Tokyo neighbourhood eatery.
