About
Miyabi holds a singular place in Czech culinary history as Prague's first and longest-running authentic Japanese restaurant, founded in 1995 by Darya Kawasumi — a Japanologist who has studied the Japanese tea ceremony for over 40 years and carries the Japanese surname Kawasumi. The restaurant is built on creative collaboration with Japanese culinary professionals, hosting annual events such as the Yoshie Ramen festival featuring guest chefs from Japan. Diners can choose between conventional Western seating or traditional tatami rooms, where the ritual of Japanese tea service complements each meal. The kitchen spans a broad washoku repertoire — sashimi, sushi, ramen, tempura, bento, and seasonal specials — all prepared with techniques grounded in Japanese tradition. Miyabi has been named one of the top five Japanese restaurants outside Japan, and is firmly established as the reference point for authentic Japanese dining in Central Europe.
