About
Himi opened on Carnaby Street's Newburgh Street in January 2025, born from the partnership of Tomoko Hasegawa — a Japanese-trained chef who honed her craft at London's Tokimeitē and later co-ran omakase restaurant Roji — and her Hungarian husband Tamas Naszai. Together they describe Himi as London's first neo-izakaya, an homage to the bustling drinking and dining dens of Tokyo and Osaka where seasonal Japanese cooking meets rare sake and cold beer. The menu changes with market availability, channelling Hasegawa's deep washoku training alongside Naszai's European fine-dining technique. Michelin-selected in its debut year, Himi has quickly become one of the most talked-about new restaurants in London for 2025.
