About
Founded in 1982, Lawrence Fish Market at 3920 W Lawrence Avenue is Chicago's longest-running Japanese-owned sushi and fish market, led by Master Chef Takashi Iida — the same revered Japanese sushi master who mentored Omakase Shoji's Chef Shoji Takahashi. The market pioneered the concept of a sushi-grade fish market in Chicago, importing directly from Japan and making top-quality seafood accessible to the general public at wholesale-adjacent prices. The full-service counter offers sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and party trays prepared by trained Japanese chefs, making it an unmatched value destination for authentic Japanese fish in the Chicagoland area. A second location opened in Bridgeport / Chinatown in late 2024.
