About
Sushi Sei's story is one of remarkable dedication: Japanese chef Seiichi Kusumoto arrived in Hungary in 1994 as the sole Japanese executive chef at Budapest's then only Japanese restaurant, before opening his own establishment on Bécsi út in 2000. Born in Himeji and raised in Osaka, Kusumoto trained for ten years at an Osaka sushi restaurant, then studied kaiseki in Hiroshima, and honed his craft at Zakoba Sushi – one of Osaka's most celebrated establishments. Although the restaurant was sold to Hungarian owner Irma Héder in 2014, Kusumoto continues as executive chef, maintaining the authentic standards he established over two decades. JETRO featured Sushi Sei as an official supporter store of authentic Japanese cuisine abroad. The menu spans a wide range of traditional Japanese dishes: nigiri, maki, sashimi, tempura, miso soup, and kaiseki-influenced seasonal specials.
