About
Nonbe Daigaku is one of the most historically significant Japanese restaurants in Brussels, led by chef Yosuke Suetsugu, a Japanese master with over 40 years of experience. Suetsugu served as head sushi chef at the legendary Tagawa restaurant in Brussels before opening his own address. His distinction is remarkable: he was appointed Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador by the Japanese government in 2022, and has prepared meals for the Japanese Emperor during state visits to Belgium. The restaurant draws heavily from the Japanese diplomatic and business community — Japanese expats working at the EU institutions count it among their most trusted Brussels addresses. The menu focuses on classic washoku: omakase 5–6 course menus, sushi and sashimi of the highest order, miso soup, grilled fish, and tempura. The atmosphere is deliberately understated, allowing the quality of the ingredients and the mastery of technique to speak without distraction.
