About
Menma was founded in October 2014 by Tomoyasu Kamo — Belgium's only Michelin-starred Japanese chef — as a dedicated ramen concept, demonstrating that Japan's most celebrated Brussels chef is equally committed to ramen excellence as to omakase fine dining. The Facebook page states simply and definitively: 'We are from Japan, but very international organisation. We are authentic Japanese ramen restaurant.' Every component of the bowl is made from scratch: broths simmer for a minimum of 24 hours (tonkotsu, tori paitan, gyokai tonkotsu, and a vegetarian option), noodles are produced in-house, and gyoza are handmade daily. Menma is the ramen destination most consistently cited by Japanese expats in Brussels as the closest equivalent to what they would eat at home in Japan. Three locations operate across Brussels: Quai aux Briques, Avenue des Saisons (Ixelles), and Place Jourdan (Etterbeek).
