About
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa was born in Saitama, Japan in 1949 and trained across Japan before developing his iconic Japanese-Peruvian fusion style in Peru and Los Angeles, ultimately building a global restaurant empire. The Toronto outpost, which opened in August 2024 ahead of TIFF at 25 Mercer Street, spans 10,000 square feet and is the chef's first Canadian restaurant. The menu is anchored by Matsuhisa's legendary black cod with miso — arguably the dish that changed fine Japanese dining in North America — alongside signature crispy rice with spicy tuna, sashimi, omakase-style tasting menus, and Tokyo-exclusive cocktails. A Sunday brunch buffet at $110 per person and a street-level Nobu Bar & Lounge open from 5pm daily complete the offering.
