About
Karyu opened in February 2026 as one of Miami's most significant restaurant arrivals in years: the first American outpost of Oniku Karyu, a Michelin one-star restaurant in Tokyo's Ginza district celebrated for its singular focus on wagyu kaiseki. Brought to Miami's Design District by Spicy Hospitality Group in collaboration with Rockwell Group's architecture team, the 10-seat counter (12-seat capacity) delivers a precisely sequenced 10-course meal in which eight preparations showcase Tajimaguro wagyu — the rarest beef strain sourced exclusively from Ueda Chikusan in Gifu Prefecture. Each course reflects the kaiseki philosophy of balance, seasonality, and visual precision. Chef Haruka Katayanagi trained his Miami team personally in Tokyo before the opening, ensuring the Ginza standard travels intact. At $350 per person, Karyu is Miami's most expensive Japanese restaurant and arguably its most extraordinary.
