Orandaya has been a cornerstone of Amsterdam's Japanese community since 2001, run by the Nagasaki-born Yoshida family who bring genuine home-cooking warmth to their Rivierenbuurt dining room. The only Amsterdam restaurant serving original Nagasaki chanpon — the region's beloved noodle soup — it is a magnet for Japanese expats and food lovers seeking real Japanese flavours.

About
The Yoshida family arrived in the Netherlands in 1994 as corporate expats from Nagasaki, and after returning briefly to Japan, settled in Amsterdam and opened Orandaya in 2001. The restaurant's name honours the historic Dutch-Japanese connection ('Oranda' means Holland in Japanese). Tomiyuki and Kiriko Yoshida run the restaurant with all-Japanese kitchen staff, serving generous portions of katsudon, unaju, sunomono, takoyaki, and — uniquely — Nagasaki chanpon (seafood noodle soup) and saraudon (crispy noodles), dishes otherwise nearly impossible to find in Europe. The Rivierenbuurt location is conveniently close to Amsterdam's RAI convention centre, and the tatami-floored private room accommodates business and family dinners alike.
