Yakitori Yurippi is the flagship of the Hatena Group, a 64-seat Crows Nest restaurant modelled on the hand-skewered charcoal yakitori-ya of Japanese back-streets. Japanese co-founder Mitomo Somehara's vision is realised through a seasonal skewer menu, house sweet-soy tare, Japanese whisky highballs, and a room that replicates the buzzing density of a Tokyo dining lane.

About
What began as Tin Jung Shea's market stall grew into Crows Nest's defining yakitori restaurant through the conviction of Japanese co-founder Mitomo Somehara, who insisted on authenticity at every step. At Yurippi, every skewer is hand-skewered by the kitchen team and grilled on hot charcoal — a labour-intensive process that most volume yakitori venues have long abandoned. The menu rotates with the seasons, maintaining a core of chicken, pork, and vegetable classics while introducing produce-driven specials. Japanese whisky highballs and sake anchor the drinks list, while the compact, lively floor channelling the press-and-noise of a Japanese izakaya-ya has earned it a Travellers' Choice award on Tripadvisor. The Hatena Group's Japanese cultural DNA — visible across all five of its venues — is most concentrated here at the original, and most celebrated, outpost.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Every skewer is hand-skewered and cooked over real charcoal, preserving the craft discipline of traditional Japanese yakitori-ya.
  • Japanese co-founder Mitomo Somehara designed the concept from the ground up to mirror an authentic yakitori alleyway experience in Japan.
  • The seasonal menu and house-made tare reflect the ongoing commitment to Japanese culinary tradition that large-format yakitori chains typically abandon.

Part of the Hatena Group alongside Nakano Darling, Tachinomi YP, Nomidokoro Indigo, and Ramen Auru. Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice award holder. Address noted as 7 Falcon St on some listings — official Hatena Group and website show 6-8 Falcon St.
