About
J-Bar on Maistraße — reopened in February 2023 by Masami Saito (born 1957 in Tokyo) and Satomi Oikawa (from Yokohama) — is Munich's most uncompromising Japanese izakaya. Both owners previously worked at sansaro and most recently at Tokami. Saito honed his culinary craft at the University of the Arts Tokyo and at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. J-Bar celebrates the Japanese after-work spirit: fresh fish (kaisen), home-made gyoza, nabe hot pots, chilled Kirin on tap, and an impressive sake selection. Cash only — total authenticity.
