About
Originally established on Marylebone Lane in central London, Tomoe relocated to 292 Upper Richmond Road in Putney, where it has become the area's most consistently praised Japanese restaurant. The kitchen — staffed entirely by Japanese chefs and front-of-house — specialises in counter sushi, sashimi, and traditional izakaya dishes, with bento box sets at lunch that include miso soup, salad, pickles, and rice representing exceptional value. Reviewers and regulars alike describe Tomoe as 'the real deal': a place where authentic Japanese culinary tradition is maintained in every aspect, from the quality of the fish to the classical pickles. The sushi master-chef position at the L-shaped counter, visible from all tables, is the heart of the experience. Open only Wednesday to Saturday, reservations are strongly recommended.
