About
Opened in 2014 by Mitsuhiro Araki — the world's first chef to hold three Michelin stars for a Japanese restaurant in both Tokyo and London — The Araki single-handedly established London's appetite for counter-seat omakase dining at premium price points (£300+ per head at its height). Araki trained for decades in Japan mastering Edomae techniques before bringing that pedigree to Mayfair's nine-seat counter. After Araki returned to Japan, head chef Marty Lau assumed the mantle, maintaining the restaurant's exacting standards. The Araki's DNA remains rooted in its founder's Japanese craftsmanship, and it remains one of the capital's most coveted and intimate dining experiences.
