Ichiba opened in July 2018 as a joint venture of the Japan Centre Group (operating since 1976) and the Japanese government-backed Cool Japan Fund, with the explicit mission of promoting Japanese food culture overseas. At 17,400 square feet and seating for 200, it is Europe's largest Japanese food hall, offering freshly made sushi, katsu curry, udon, gyoza, onigiri, tempura and Japanese street food alongside a comprehensive retail supermarket stocked with rice, sake, noodles, matcha and kitchenware. No Michelin recognition.
