Osaka Japanese Bistro is the oldest Japanese restaurant in Las Vegas, founded in 1967 by Sam and Aiko Nakanishi, a Japanese couple from Osaka who introduced teppanyaki and sushi to the city. Now helmed by their son Gene Nakanishi, the restaurant is a living piece of Las Vegas culinary history.

About
When Sam and Aiko Nakanishi opened Osaka Japanese Bistro in 1967, Las Vegas had never seen a Japanese restaurant. The couple, who emigrated from Osaka, Japan, built a neighborhood institution that the Rat Pack and Las Vegas entertainers frequented in its early decades. More than 55 years later, the second generation — Gene Nakanishi — continues the family tradition at the same West Sahara address, with an expanded menu of sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, and traditional Japanese dishes. The restaurant features tatami room seating in true Japanese style, a full sushi bar, and teppanyaki grills where chefs cook tableside. Recognized as one of the world's 50 best Japanese restaurants by Japan's Asahi Shukan magazine, Osaka has outlasted countless competitors and remains a beloved local institution. With late-night hours daily until 2 a.m., it still serves Vegas night owls just as it did in the Rat Pack era.
