Kido takes its name from the small theatrical doorways of old Japan, evoking an intimate stage where chef Kimura Junichiro performs nightly. Born in Miyazaki, Kyushu, Kimura trained under his father — the founder of the legendary Ogura restaurant and revered as a 'god of chicken' — bringing an unbroken lineage of kushikatsu mastery to Hong Kong. The counter seats wrap around the open charcoal grill, letting diners watch each skewer char to perfection while sipping highballs or Japanese beer. Beyond the classic yakitori lineup, the menu ventures into Fukuoka-style kushiage — panko-crumbed, golden-fried bites that are hard to find elsewhere in the city. The Chicken Nanban, sweet-salty fried chicken dressed with tartare sauce, is Kido's signature and a direct tribute to the Miyazaki original.
