About
Umi Kei — meaning 'ocean blessings' in Japanese — is the centrepiece Japanese restaurant at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, the AED 4,465-per-night super-yacht-inspired resort that completed Jumeirah's beachfront trilogy in March 2025. Chef Yukou Nishimura brings family-rooted Japanese culinary heritage shaped by kitchens across Japan and Hong Kong, with a philosophy centred on kintsugi — the Japanese art of repairing with gold, celebrating imperfections. The à la carte menu spans cold starters (chutoro carpaccio AED 195, hamachi carpaccio AED 85), an extensive sushi and sashimi programme including Sashimi Chiku omakase (AED 260), robata-grilled skewers, and the showpiece A5 wagyu (AED 495). A dedicated Late Night Ramen Club runs from 22:00 to 23:30, offering classic chicken, spicy chicken, and shoyu bowls. Reviewed by The National in September 2025 as 'high-end experience rather than an everyday outing.' Children aged 7 and above are welcome.
