About
Founded at the end of 2022 within the intimate LOWE private dining room at KOA Canvas, Al Barari, Iki Sushi embodies the Japanese concept of 'iki' — refined elegance and quiet authenticity. Head chef Koji Sagawa began his career in 1983 at a sushi restaurant in Japan and relocated to Dubai in 2018 as head sushi chef at Bulgari's Hōseki, where he was instrumental in the restaurant achieving its first Michelin star in 2022. He was named Dubai's Japanese Michelin Star Chef in 2022. At Iki, Sagawa takes centre stage at an 8-seat omakase counter, crafting each piece of Edomae sushi by hand and delivering it personally to each guest. Two menus are offered: the Kyo (AED 1,000: three appetisers, 10 nigiri, miso soup, maki, and tamagoyaki) and the Miyako (AED 1,500: five appetisers, 11 nigiri, plus the same accompaniments). Sous chef Takamichi Niiya (Japanese, ~15 years' experience) supports the counter. Traditional Japanese cultural performances are available on request.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Chef Koji Sagawa has 40 years of Edomae sushi expertise and helped Hōseki win its first Michelin star in 2022 — the most decorated Japanese chef working in Dubai outside a Michelin restaurant.
  • Strictly 8 seats per seating creates one of the most intimate and exclusive dining experiences in the UAE.
  • All seafood is 100% sourced from Japan, with no compromise on provenance — rivalling any Tokyo-level omakase in ingredient integrity.

Two seatings nightly (18:00 and 21:00). Menu priced at AED 1,000 (Kyo) and AED 1,500 (Miyako). Fully licensed. Traditional Japanese performances available on request. Instagram: @iki_sushi_dubai.
