About
Tampopo opened in February 1992 as one of the pioneering stalls in the Porter Exchange food court, Cambridge's own slice of Japanese culinary culture. Japanese owner Yasumasa Ito has maintained a simple but deeply comforting menu centered on katsu don, shrimp tempura noodles, pork cutlet curry, and yoshoku-style set meals. The restaurant has weathered decades of change in the food court while remaining one of the area's most authentic Japanese comfort food spots. Tampopo announced it will close in June 2026 after 34 years of service, making it a must-visit destination while it remains open.
