About
Guu Toramasa opened on Seymour Street in April 2023, extending the Tokyo-owned Guu Group's footprint while introducing a distinctive Osaka-inspired concept. Named after the legendary Osaka neighbourhood tiger-mask character, the restaurant celebrates the food culture of Japan's second city — known for its bold flavours, deep-fried street snacks, and sociable eating culture. The two managers who championed this location both hail from Osaka, lending an authentic perspective to the menu's takoyaki, kushikatsu, and dashi-rich snacks. Daily lunch service makes Guu Toramasa one of the few izakaya options in downtown Vancouver available from midday, while the evening service expands into a full izakaya experience with the same quality and authenticity that defines the wider Guu group.
