About
Opened in 2014 by head chef Kyoichi Kai, who trained in Japan and was among the founding team of Zuma London, Kouzu occupies a grand Victorian building at 21 Grosvenor Gardens just steps from Victoria station. The restaurant earned UK winner status at the Global Sushi Challenge and the Sake Sommelier of the Year award in 2015 — a testament to the rigour of both its kitchen and its Japanese drinks programme. The menu spans sushi, sashimi, and izakaya-style sharing plates, executed with the precision and seasonal sensibility of Kai's Japanese training. With its palatial dining room, private events spaces, and a sake list of rare depth, Kouzu operates at the fine-dining end of Japanese cuisine in London.
