Yakinikumafia is the community-facing yakiniku offshoot of Japanese chef Hisato Hamada's global Wagyumafia brand, launched in Hong Kong to bring Ozaki Wagyu grilling to a broader audience without membership requirements. Head chef Yohei Yamamoto oversees the Hollywood Road kitchen, applying the same Wagyumafia standard of Japanese direct-farm sourcing to a more accessible tabletop grill format.

About
Born as a 'community project' during the pandemic by Wagyumafia founder Hisato Hamada, Yakinikumafia channels the parent brand's obsessive Japanese wagyu sourcing into a walk-in, reservation-friendly yakiniku experience on Hollywood Road. Unlike the members-only Wagyumafia flagship in Wan Chai, Yakinikumafia is accessible to all — accepting up to 250 monthly reservations — while maintaining the same commitment to Ozaki Wagyu, the rarest single-farm wagyu in Japan, sourced directly from Muneharu Ozaki's farm in Miyazaki. Head chef Yohei Yamamoto trained within the Wagyumafia ecosystem and brings Japanese grill mastery to the Hollywood Centre second-floor space, where exposed brickwork and casual bar seating give the experience a more neighbourhood feel. The dual-format service — weekday dinner only, weekend lunch and dinner — caters to both after-work gatherings and leisurely weekend wagyu sessions. Yakinikumafia represents a rare opportunity to access Wagyumafia-quality Japanese beef without a club membership.
Neighborhood & visiting

Yakinikumafia sits in Sheung Wan, one of Hong Kong's neighborhoods where authentic Japanese kitchens have taken root. The house does not publish an online booking link; call ahead to secure a seat, especially on weekends. Check the posted hours before you go — traditional izakaya restaurants often close between service periods.

Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • The only publicly accessible restaurant in the Wagyumafia group, featuring the same Ozaki Wagyu direct-farm sourcing as the members-only flagship at a fraction of the exclusivity.
  • Japanese chef Yohei Yamamoto's Wagyumafia-trained kitchen ensures that every Ozaki Wagyu cut is grilled with the precision and understanding of the parent brand's ethos.
  • A rare chance to experience Japan's most exclusive single-farm wagyu — Ozaki Wagyu from Miyazaki — without a club membership or six-figure joining fee.
  • The Hollywood Road setting in Sheung Wan puts this premium yakiniku experience within walking distance of Central's galleries, bars, and after-dinner entertainment.

First overseas Yakinikumafia; offshoot of Japanese chef Hisato Hamada's Wagyumafia brand. Head chef Yohei Yamamoto. Ozaki Wagyu sourced directly from Japan.
