Tempura Araki opened in Hong Kong's Central in 2023, marking the first international branch of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant that Chef Yoshiyuki Araki built in Sapporo. At just six seats, the intimate counter setting places guests directly in front of the chef as Hokkaido-sourced seafood — live prawns, oysters, squid and seasonal vegetables — is fried to order in a proprietary blend of canola and sesame oils. The batter is deliberately gossamer-thin, made fresh for each batch, ensuring the natural sweetness and texture of each ingredient shine through. The omakase menu changes with the seasons, with winter bringing Aomori suppon soup and summer highlighting Hokkaido scallops and local asparagus. It is one of the most technically precise tempura experiences available outside Japan.
