About
Kappo Rin occupies the same prestigious 7th floor of the Landmark Mandarin Oriental as Sushi Shikon, reflecting the Yoshitake group's deepening commitment to Hong Kong's fine dining landscape. Head chef Masaru Furukawa hails from Miyagi, Japan, and spent more than 15 years honing his craft at Michelin-starred establishments in Tokyo before moving to Hong Kong. The kappo format — meaning 'to cut and to cook' — allows Furukawa to present a flowing omakase menu of seasonal small plates, sashimi, grilled and simmered dishes, and pristine rice courses from an open counter, bridging the ceremonial formality of kaiseki with the warmth of counter dining. The restaurant earned one Michelin star in 2023 and has sustained that recognition, widely praised for its technically precise but approachable rendering of Japan's culinary traditions. Reservations are accepted by telephone or through the restaurant's website.
