About
Masahito Okazoe arrived from Kochi, Japan — a prefecture famous for its pristine fish and ingredient-driven cuisine — to open Izariya Madrid in 2014, extending his celebrated Japanese kappo and kaiseki group to Europe. The Madrid restaurant showcases seasonal Japanese ingredients with the same approach applied at his flagship locations in Ginza and Kobe: minimal intervention, maximum respect for produce. The kitchen, entirely composed of Japanese staff, executes a rotating menu that closely mirrors the rhythm of Japanese seasons rather than European market calendars. Izariya holds a Michelin Plate recommendation and has long been considered one of the most authentic expressions of traditional Japanese haute cuisine in Spain.
