About
Established in 2018 as Dubai's first dedicated ramen restaurant, Yui occupies a compact, minimalist space in Dubai Design District's Building 7, adjacent to its sister lifestyle store Select Shop Frame. The culinary programme is led by Japanese chef Toshiyuki, whose expertise gives the menu its authenticity — noodles are made in-house daily from Japanese flour and the broths are slow-simmered without MSG. The menu spans ten ramen varieties including Shio Paitan, Shoyu, Tantanmen, Yui Original and Tsukemen, alongside gyoza, chicken karaage and donburi. Founder Peter Ahn attributes the restaurant's consistency to six core quality pillars rooted in Japanese ramen tradition. A second location opened at City Walk in 2024, but the Design District original remains the spiritual home of the concept.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
  • Dubai's first and longest-running dedicated ramen house, with handmade noodles produced fresh daily from imported Japanese flour.
  • Japanese chef Toshiyuki has led the culinary programme since opening, ensuring authentic broth technique and precise noodle craft.
  • MSG-free broths slow-simmered for hours place it among the most technically rigorous ramen kitchens in the UAE.
  • Named a hidden gem by long-term Dubai residents, with a second City Walk branch opening in 2024 confirming its growing following.

Founder Peter Ahn is Korean-born (Seoul); the Japanese chef authenticity anchor is Toshiyuki, confirmed as culinary lead in a February 2025 podcast. Halal-certified. Also operates 'Table' (tasting restaurant) at Jameel Arts Centre under the same group.
